The Paper Tiger
"Service Manager" is a stand alone program with four modules included as
standard.
- Planned and Preventive Maintenance.
- Reactive Maintenance and Service requests.
- Hazardous Materials.
- Permit to work.The main component is Planned and Preventive Maintenance or PPM. Not
a very exciting subject but one that can reduce breakdowns, prolong plant and equipment
life, minimise delays and lessen management stress. Repeat the old saying "If it
ain't broke don't fix it" to an aircraft or marine engineer and it will get the
answer it deserves. In any serious quality, environmental, health & safety or risk
management system, Planned and Preventive Maintenance is an essential component. Believe
it.
The Paper Tiger PPM program has been designed to give more time for maintenance and less
time in front of the computer. Once set up (and that is hard work) record entries and data
maintenance is fast. There is extensive reporting both of maintenance records / history
and of costs. See sample screenshots. The following and more is

- The Paper tiger PPM use
references to documented service procedures and manuals - no need to type descriptions of
what and how for every task. This makes for simple maintenance. If a service procedure
changes - update the document only - the reference is still valid. Use Document
control to maintain documentation.
The Paper Tiger Planned and Preventive Maintenance
program is suitable for most types of machinery, building, plant, hotel maintenance and
servicing.
- Reactive Maintenance and
Service requests. This module handles all non-planned
maintenance, break downs, service requests etc. Requests can be raised from any PC on the
network with Paper Tiger Service Manager installed. This module fits in well with
manufacturing, operations, hotels etc where requests frequently need to be raised for
servicing or repairs. The functionality is similar to the CRM and issue
management module but focus on service and repair.
What Paper Tiger PPM doesn't do:
There is no spare part inventory or part usage tracking.
All service intervals are in days - not hours, km or miles. To keep computer time to a
minimum Paper Tiger lets the computer do the time keeping. If the interval is in hours, km
etc that requires huge input on a regular basis and that is expensive and time consuming.
If your application MUST have service intervals in other than actual days - then Paper
Tiger Service Manager is not suitable.
